Move to hike property tax in State decried

TIRUPATI: There was all-round resentment over the Government’s move to enhance property tax on all the non-residential structures in the municipal corporations in the State in the name of mopping up more revenue, at a round-table organised by the Tirupati unit of the CPI(M). The programme was attended by representatives of all parties cutting across political affiliations. They said the hike would break the back of ratepayers who were already groaning under heavy taxation and price rise.
