To float India focussed equity fund targeted at family-owned businesses

CHENNAI: TVS Capital Funds Limited has announced the launch of its operations here as an asset management company. Led by Gopal Srinivasan, founder and director of TVS-Electronics and director of several TVS group businesses, TVS Capital Funds will make equity investments in growth to late-stage private companies and in mid-cap, family-owned businesses. Suresh Raju, General Partner , told this correspondent that the company was in the process of identifying unlisted companies across sectors in India which had shown growth and needed additional capital to build up their businesses.

Some of the group companies in the TVS group will contribute to the equity capital of TVS Capital Funds and additional capital if needed may be raised from the public at an appropriate time, Mr. Raju said. The company was in the process of filing applications with the Securities and Exchange Board of India for its approval, Mr. Raju said.
