Looking the other way

They say everybody is equal in eyes of law. However, not for GHMC officials who seem to have this knack of haranguing the meek and the voiceless and quiet conveniently look away, when it comes to booking or punishing the high and mighty.

Couple of days ago, the GHMC officials took up demolition drive of buildings at M.J. Colony, Moula Ali near Malkajgiri, which is a known middle class neighbourhood with neither influence nor the trappings of affluence. However, when it comes to implementing such High Court orders on the ‘big fish’, the GHMC officials go to any length to give them the ‘elbow room’ to wriggle out of sticky situations.

Does the rule of law ‘really’ apply equally to everyone?
