NEW DELHI: In what appears to be a case of suicide pact, a young woman and a man allegedly committed suicide in their houses at Sangam Vihar here on Wednesday. The police suspect that both consumed some poisonous substance. The police on Thursday morning received a call claiming that a young woman and a man had committed suicide at Sangam Vihar and their bodies were being cremated. Subsequently the bodies were taken into police custody for post-mortem. Enquiries revealed that the man, Neelu, worked as a motor mechanic. On Wednesday afternoon, he allegedly consumed poison after which he started vomiting and later died in a hospital. A few hours later, Khushboo (17) purportedly consumed some poisonous substance and died in the evening. According to the police, Khushboo, along with her family, earlier used to live on rent in Neelu’s house and had moved from there about two months ago. Suspecting it to be a case of suicide pact, the police are trying to find out if the two cases are connected. “We have not found any suicide note in both the cases,” said a police officer, adding that post-mortem had been performed and the bodies handed over to the relatives of the deceased. The police are awaiting the viscera reports to find out the exact cause of the deaths.
