House burgled

VISAKHAPATNAM: Thieves stole Rs.1.30 lakhs, nine tolas of gold ornaments and some silver ornaments in a robbery at Seethammadhara in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the police, the unidentified thieves gained entry into the duplex house of Rakesh Sharma by breaking open the glass panes and removing the iron grills of the window on the ground floor. His parents who live in the ground floor were not in town and Rakesh and family were fast asleep on the first floor when the thieves entered the house.

The miscreants found the keys of the safe and stole the cash, gold and silver ornaments and escaped.

On a complaint filed by Rakesh, the Fourth Town police registered a case. CI Vimala Kumari is investigating the case.

CDs seized

A man was arrested on the charge of dealing with pirated CDs of new films. On a tip off that the accused Atchuta Rao was issuing CD s of new films, the Anti Piracy Squad and the City Task Force conducted a joint raid on the shop located near Gurudwara on Thursday and seized 225 pirated CD s.

The accused was handed over to the Fourth Town police for further investigation.

Youth killed in accident

While trying to overtake an RTC bus near Malkapuram bridge, a 21-year-old engineering graduate, Prabhakula Sridhar fell from his motorcycle and died on the spot on Wednesday. SI Srinivasa Rao is investigating the case.

Succumbs to injuries

A beggar woman succumbed to injuries after she was run over by RTC bus at Isakathota near MVP Double Road Junction around 9 p.m. on Thursday. The bus driver was arrested. Police are investigating the case.

Arrested

The Three Town police arrested Pydaraju (26), after Pilla Leelavathi (24) accused him of cheating her. Both accused and the complainant are residing in the same lane in Jalaripeta. Leelavathi who alleged that the accused was not marrying her after promising the same for last one year, made the complaint on Thursday. SI Anand Reddy is investigating the case.
