TIRUMALA: Gaiety marked the ‘golden chariot’ procession on Thursday taken out as part of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara.

Tens of thousands of devotees witnessed the celestial procession held on Thursday evening around the mada streets, encircling the temple of Lord Venkateswara.

Divine chants

The chariot with the processional deities of Lord Malayappa along with his two divine consorts was dragged amid religious ecstasy.

The atmosphere was charged with the rhythmic beat of drums and the chants of ‘Govinda namam’ by the devotees. The festival lasted for more than 90 minutes.

Earlier in the morning, the procession of ‘Hanumantha vahanam’ was conducted with religious fervour followed by Vasanthotsavam and Asthanam to the deities at the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple.

Later in the night, the Gaja Vahanam was conducted.
