HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday made light of reports that the BJP and the AIADMK were coming closer, and asserted that the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) remained united. Asked at a press conference if it did not indicate a split in the UNPA ranks, he said small differences were there in all political parties, including the Congress. But the important aspect was presenting an alternative viable political formation to the Congress and the BJP. “This is because coalition governments are here to stay and political realignments keep happening. Political formation rooted in alternative economic policy like the UNPA will definitely have a fair chance.” Mr. Naidu said he would leave for Delhi on September 26 to attend the former Haryana Chief Minister, Omprakash Choutala’s birthday celebrations. He, however, refused to confirm if there would be a meeting of the UNPA that day.
