ExcelaCom Tech opens centre

Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI: The U.S.-based ExcelaCom Technologies, a technology consulting firm, has inaugurated a development centre at the SIPCOT information technology park in Siruseri, around 25 km from Chennai.

Majid Naderkhani, Founder and Chairman, ExcelaCom, told a press conference here on Thursday that the company had invested $5 million in the one-lakh sq. ft. facility as part of the first phase. In the second phase, ExcelaCom was planning to shift all its product development operations to India in around three years, Mr. Naderkhani said.

This would involve an investment of around $15 million, he said, adding that the company, which now had around 300 employees in India, would hire another 700 persons by the time the second phase was completed. By then, he said, the other centres of the company — in the U.S. and Germany — would be solely into product marketing and sales.

Mr. Naderkhani said the company was looking at ‘mobility-enabler’ products and services, such as the concept of social networking in mobile handsets.
