Other States trying to replicate A.P. schemes: YSR

Staff Reporter

Takes a dig at Opposition parties

KAVALI: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has claimed that many States across the country have been trying to replicate the developmental activities and programmes being taken up by the State Government.

Many MPs from the State have brought to my notice that several MPs from other States have many a time praised the developmental activities being implemented in Andhra Pradesh. But unfortunately the opposition parties have failed to appreciate the very same programmes for petty political reasons, the Chief Minister said at Indiramma Sambaralu function held at Kavali on Friday.

Taking a dig at the opposition parties in particular the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Mr. Reddy said that the State Government has decided to give as many pensions as demanded by the needy. “But this was not the case in the previous TDP regime where the new applicant for old-age pension waited till some beneficiary died.

Earlier, he laid foundation stones to various developmental activities including the protected water scheme and new road lanes. He then visited a photo exhibition of Indiramma phase-I and took part in Indiramma sambaralu programme in which he distributed sanction orders under the Indiramma housing scheme of phase-II. He handed over pension proceedings to beneficiaries and bank linkage schemes to SHGs.

Chopper develops snag

A technical snag in the helicopter forced Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to disembark from the chopper minutes before take-off here on Friday. Mr. Reddy boarded the helicopter when the pilot noticed a “little snag” following which they alighted from the copter, Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Laxmi Reddy said. “The Chief Minister along with some of his Cabinet colleagues later travelled by road to Kandukur of Prakasam district.”
