PATNA: The entire judicial system in Bihar was disrupted on Friday with lawyers boycotting all courts for the second day. The two-day strike call was given by the Bihar State Bar Council following Thursday’s violence on the Patna Civil Court premises, where three lawyers were injured in bomb blasts caused by fleeing intruders who shot dead an undertrial prisoner. Work in the Patna High Court, district courts and sub-divisional courts, tribunals and on administrative and judicial forums came to a grinding halt. Lawyers staged a demonstration before the High Court. The lawyers said they would review the situation on Sunday. They expressed an unwillingness to resume work until the security of courts and the community was addressed. “How can we work when our premises come under attack,” was the refrain.
