Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy giving conflicting statements: Kharge HASSAN: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the confusion on transfer of power in the State is being created by the Janata Dal (Secular) leaders by giving conflicting statements and not by Congress. He was addressing presspersons here on Saturday with former Chief Minister Dharam Singh. Janata Dal (S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda had said that the transfer of power would be smooth. However, at the same time Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy at a public meeting in Gulbarga district had said that he had committed a mistake by joining hands with the BJP, they said. RemedyIt was Mr. Gowda and Mr. Kumaraswamy who were creating confusion on transfer of power, they said and added that there was no coordination between the ruling coalition partners. They said holding election was the only remedy to end the impasse. The Congress leaders said that there was no question of forming a coalition government with Janata Dal (S). Mr. Kharge said he would welcome everyone, including former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, to strengthen the party in the State. Mr. Kharge said that the Union Government had announced Rs. 2,689-crore Vidharba package for the State. A sum of Rs. 800 crore had already been released, but Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna, who heads the package committee in State, had not prepared an action plan for it, he said. The Union Government had released Rs. 4,428 crore for relief works, but the State had failed to give a utility certificate. WelcomeMr. Kharge said he would welcome the move to give more powers to Lokayukta. He said that he wanted Chief Minister, Ministers and legislators to be brought under the preview of Lokayukta. Declining to comment on the Ramar Sethu controversy, Mr. Kharge said there were several ways to express dissent, but burning buses was not a remedy.
