Cable operators to shut broadcast

Staff Reporter

Association members to sit on dharna on Monday

Coimbatore: The Tamizhaga Cable Operators Association has announced that the cable operators would shut down broadcast of the cable TV signals from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday (September 23), in protest against the introduction of the Sun Direct – Direct to Home (DTH) platform by the Sun TV Group. District Coordinators P. Krishnakumar and N. Jaheer of the association said that the introduction of DTH platform by the group would adversely affect the livelihood of 2.5 lakh families.

Low tariff

They said that even a majority of the pay channels could be provided at a lowest tariff package through cable TV.

Misleading

The advertisement for DTH was misleading and had hidden charges with a view to deceive the people. The association will sit on dharma in front of Red Cross Society Buildings on Monday.
