AKU: Babita Kumari finished within the top eight women grapplers in the 51kg class at the World wrestling championship here, but there was no Olympic quota for her weight category. Babita defeated Giorgiana Michaela Radoi of Romania in the second round after getting a bye in the first, in a hair-splitting decision by the referees and made it to the quarterfinals. Babita was 5-7 down, at the end of the three rounds against Giorgiana, but on technical points she moved ahead with a 3-1 decision. In the quarterfinals though, Babita lost to Kazakhstan’s Tatyana Bakatyuk 2-5. Alka Tomar (55kg) wasnowhere near the quota. After a bye in the first round, she lost to Canada’s Tonya Verbeek 1-8. In the 59kg, Kamlesh Devi lost to Lorisa Kanaeva 6-0 in the first round.
