Plan to make city malaria-free

VIJAYAWADA: The municipal corporation has prepared an action plan to make the city malaria free by the year 2012. Disclosing this at an awareness meeting on malaria on Saturday, municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar said the corporation would take the drive on lines of pulse polio programme.

Stating that 32 areas in the city have been identified as malaria- prone, he said 32 link workers would be appointed so that the surveillance on malaria would be effective. MLAs Sheik Nasar Vali and Devineni Rajasekhar, and Mayor Mallika Begum and others were present.

Krishna Collector Navin Mittal on Saturday called upon medical staff to chalk out a plan to face challenges and provide immediate help to the needy during exigencies. He was addressing the hospital development committee meeting at the GGH.
