Honour: S. Ramasubbu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, inspecting a contingent at the 23rd RPF Raising Day celebrations in Tiruchi on Saturday. TIRUCHI: In the present security scenario, the expectations of the travelling public from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are high, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi S. Ramasubbu said on Saturday. Taking salute at the 23rd RPF Raising Day celebrations here, he said the RPF personnel were doing their best in ensuring the safety of the travelling public besides protecting railway properties. Ever since the RPF was vested with the additional responsibility of providing security to passengers following amendments made to the RPF Act and Railways Act in July 2004, it had been performing well in crime control and prevention of theft. Due to this, the crime rate had come down considerably, Mr. Ramasubbu said. A dedicated bomb detection and disposal squad would be formed soon in Tiruchi Division. He also extending his greetings to the RPF personnel on the occasion of the Raising Day celebration. The Divisional Security Commissioner, Tiruchi Division, S.R. Gandhi, the Security Commissioner – cum – Principal, RPF Training Centre, Tiruchi, P.V. Subramanian, T.S. Raju, Commandant, 5th Battalion, Railway Protection Special Force, Tiruchi and senior RPF officials were presentt.
