Owner gets back house where terror suspects stayed

LONDON: After months of forensic work, police in the United Kingdom have handed back a house to its owner, where the Glasgow airport terror attack accused Kafeel Ahmed and Bilal Abdullah used to live on rent.

It has been alleged the pair had run a “bomb factory” at the semi-detached Houston house, which is five miles from the airport, for two months before the June 30 attack. While the 27-year-old Indian engineer Kafeel Ahmed died in hospital following the incident, Iraqi doctor Abdullah is facing charges of conspiring to cause explosions at the airport “of a nature likely to endanger life...”

Let-It, the agency which let the house on behalf of the woman owner, has confirmed that the keys were handed back by the police two days ago, The Herald reported on Saturday.

“The property will need major renovation work before it can be let out again or sold. The cost of putting it right will be substantial,” Let-It Director Daniel Gardiner was quoted as saying.

Most of the contents of the property have been removed and stored in the detached garage to the right of the house. — PTI
