MEG holds KSP

BANGALORE: Reigning champion MEG and runner-up Karnataka State Police (KSP) played out a sedate goalless draw in this edition of the Super Division football league at the football stadium here on Sunday.

KSP had a close shave early in the match when a Shiyad throw-in bounced in front of KSP custodian Nagendra, who managed to put it over.

In the dying minutes,

MEG showed urgency and came up with two stinging shots by Shiyad and Dipan Thapa, but straight into the hands of waiting Nagendra.

With this draw, KSP has 10 from five outings (three wins and a draw) while MEG has eight from four outings (two wins and two draw).

Earlier, BHEL (EPD) drew with Nationals 1-1 in an ‘A’ Division league tie.

Nationals went into the lead through Robin D’Souza (18th) before unbeaten BHEL got the equaliser through Manoj in the 48th.

BHEL has two wins and two draw for a tally of eight points while Nationals has seven points from two wins and a draw. — Special Correspondent
