Gorakhpur: A woman was allegedly shot dead by her son-in-law after she refused to send his wife along with him, police said.
Dinesh arrived at his in-laws’ house in Charan Lal Chowk locality on Saturday morning. He allegedly fired at his mother-in-law, Meena Tripathi, with his licensed gun when she refused to send his wife along with him, police said. A constable of Chiluatal police station, who was passing by, heard the gunshot and overpowered Dinesh. He was later handed over to police. Meena was taken to the district hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Dinesh reportedly told the police that he got married to Meena’s daughter Ruchi two years ago. But his wife left him within few months of marriage and started living with her parents. He suspected Meena’s hand behind her wife’s desertion. — PTI
