Gandhi Jayanti week celebrations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Gandhi Jayanti week celebrations in Kerala will take off on October 2 with a formal inauguration by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.

The inaugural function will be preceded by an inter-religious prayer meeting led by K.J. Yesudas at the Gandhi Park in the morning.

Kerala Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi chairman P. Gopinathan Nair will flag off a rally from the Gandhi Park to popularise Gandhi’s message of non violence.

A Gandhi Quiz programme will be held at the VJT Hall in the afternoon.

The curtains will come down on the celebrations with a rally and a valedictory function on October 8 evening.
