Velu’s statement flayed

Kochi: P.C.Thomas, MP, has condemned the statement of Union Minister of State for Railways R. Velu that Kerala’s demand for a railway zone will not be accepted.

Mr. Thomas said that Kerala was not demanding a zone on the basis of language or State, but it was seeking the formation of a west coast zone comprising zones of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The statement of Mr. Velu was untimely as Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had promised to examine the demand, he said in a statement.
