Hold meeting: Physically challenged persons observing a fast in Tuticorin on Monday.

Tuticorin: Physically challenged people from different parts of the district observed a fast in front of the Collectorate here on Monday to press their charter of demands. The agitators alleged that the rehabilitation packages meant for the physically challenged people from the coastal areas, who were badly hit by tsunami in 2004, had not reached the beneficiaries fully, so far.

The authorities concerned should ensure that educational assistance earmarked for the differently abled persons should reach them before the end of the respective academic years.

According to them, the district administration should take steps to convene the meeting of district level committee set up for physically challenged persons regularly. About 75 persons took part in the agitation.
