MALAPPURAM: The campaign rally organised by the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) ahead of its State conference to be held next month in Kollam was given a warm reception at four centres in the district. Hundreds of people gathered at Tirur, Kondotty, Malappuram and Nilambur, where the rallies were given receptions, to watch a street play staged by BEFI men as part of the rally. Block panchayat member A. Sarojini inaugurated the final reception held at Nilambur. NGO Union leader Jose Mathew presided. BEFI leader D. Venkiteswaran welcomed the gathering. The street play titled ‘Panappetti Viseshangal,’ portraying the plight of the poor and the untrammelled growth of new-generation banks, pulled in huge crowds. Siyavudheen A, rally captain and State general secretary of the BEFI, and A. Ajayan, BEFI district secretary, addressed the receptions. The rally will conclude in Kollam on September 27 along with another rally, which is campaigning in the southern districts.
