BJP will win 10 seats in Hassan CMC: Minister

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy on Sunday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win at least 10 of the 22 seats it was contesting in the Hassan City Municipal Council (CMC).

Addressing presspersons here, he said the achievements of the coalition Government were the basis for this.

Mr. Shankaramurthy said the BJP would emerge as the No. 1 party in the civic elections. “We will win Bellary, Chikmagalur, Shimoga, Gulbarga, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangalore and Mysore civic bodies and maximum possible seats in town municipalities and town panchayats. The achievements of the BJP during its 19-month rule will be converted into votes,” he added.

On the statement by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge that the Congress was ready for the Assembly elections, Mr. Shankaramurthy said, “Let them face the civic elections first.”
