Seek conciliation ways to settle motor accident cases: Judge

1359 cases settled through Lok Adalats in Thanjavur

THANJAVUR: People should seek the conciliation ways for settling motor accident cases said Justice Mr. C. Nagappan, Judge, Chennai High court here on Saturday.

He distributed cheques to the accident victims in the cases settled through Lok adalat and Mediation centre at the court complex at Thanjavur .

He said that motor accidents are on the increase and they have become order of the day. Instead of dragging in court cases, it is better if people opt for conciliation, Nagappan suggested. Insurance companies are also ready for this. Co-operation of the litigant is necessary for settling any case quickly.

Immediate justice

Justice Mr.K.Ravi Raja Pandiyan, Judge, Chennai High court, said that immediate justice is rendered through Lok Adalat and Mediation centres. The two judges were here to participate in the settlement of cases in continuous Lok Adalat and Mediation Centre in Thanjavur.

M. Mohammed Jaffarullah, Principal District and Sessions Judge said that in the continuous Lok Adalat which started on September 6 and ended on September 22, Saturday, 1359 cases were settled. They include 542 motor accident claims, 21 original suits, one appeal suit, five Hindu Marriage Original petitions, four maintenance cases, 138 N.I. Act cases, 115 criminal cases in IPC and 200 other criminal cases under other acts.
