Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has taken up with the Centre the issue of according to classical language status to Telugu, and a committee formed in the wake of his appeal is looking into the technicalities of the issue.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Monday, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad said it was just a matter of time before Telugu was accorded much-coveted status of a classical language and he had full faith in the leadership of the Chief Minister in this regard.

Mr. Buddha Prasad thanked the writers, delegates and sympathisers of Telugu language for making the first World Telugu Writers’ Conference held in the city from September 21 to 23 a success.
