THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs.82.25 crore to the State government from its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. In a press release here on Monday, NABARD said that the amount included Rs.50 crore to the IT Department to build a new complex with a built-up space of 4.27 lakh square feet for IT and ITES companies at the Infopark at Kakkanad in Kochi. 53 schools in the State will receive a total assistance of Rs.10.89 crore for improving facilities for students. 42 of these schools would be in Thiruvananthapuram district, nine in Ernakulam district and two in Kollam district. Of the total assistance, a sum of Rs.14.57 crore is for the Water Resources Department to take up 79 minor irrigation schemes spread across the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad. The Agriculture Department will receive a sum of Rs.6.79 crore for soil conservation schemes in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Kozhikode and Malappuram.
