Car attacked

Staff reporter

PERAMBALUR: The glass panes of a four-wheeler of the Bharatiya Janata Party functionary were damaged in stone pelting by volunteers of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam at the new bus stand here on Tuesday.

It happened soon after a group of the BJP functionaries, led by the party’s State observer G. Iyyarappan, went to inspect the reported damage caused to the party flag-pole at the new bus stand.

Earlier, tension gripped the Old Bus stand where the BJP cadres staged a demonstration against the DMK. Protesting their agitation, a group of DMK volunteers also came to the spot, forcing the police to intervene.
