IAF man, wife held for fraud

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A former Indian Air Force corporal, his wife and a family friend have been arrested at Indraprastha Extension here for allegedly committing a bank fraud using forged documents. State Bank of India chief manager Mukesh Nagpal lodged a complaint at the Defence Colony police station recently saying that five persons, including two women, availed of Rs. 3 lakh loan each from the bank and were now defaulting. According to the complainant, the five -- Mudit Verma, Akhil Saxena, Swati Singh, Divya Singh and Rajeev Singh -- described themselves as employees of United Phosphorous Limited, but enquiries revealed that they had never worked with the company.

They paid the initial instalments timely to gain confidence of the bank and gradually started defaulting, the complainant said. The police registered a case of cheating and one of the accused, Akhil Saxena, was arrested from Indraprastha Extenstion.
