Handicrafts exhibition begins today

KOZHIKODE: An exhibition of handicrafts from Andhra Pradesh is being held at CSI Hall from Wednesday.

Craftsmen will demonstrate and sell their handicrafts directly at the exhibition which will be on till October 11.

A special discount of 10 per cent on handicrafts and 20 per cent on textile is being offered at the exhibition.

Hyderabad pearls, leather goods, black metal products, pottery items, wooden toys and wooden carvings, cotton durris and jute products will be on show.

Cotton and silk saris in traditional designs, from Mandanapally, Mangalagiri, Kalamkari, Chirala, Venkatagiri and Pochanppally are the main attraction of the textiles on show.

T. Venkataramanappa, manager, Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium, said the exhibition is part of a programme to popularise handicrafts of Andhra Pradesh and find new markets for them.
