EXAMINATION: Members of the Assembly Public Accounts Committee inspecting an emission testing centre at Pudukottai on Tuesday.
PUDUKOTTAI: The Public Accounts Committee of the Tamil Nadu Assembly had its sitting here on Tuesday and reviewed various on-going schemes.
Led by the Chairman, K. R. Ramasamy, the committee visited the Panchayat Union Middle School at Ashok Nagar near here where the work on the construction of class rooms under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan had been taken up at an expenditure of Rs. 3.30 lakh.
The committee also inspected a private smoke emission testing centre here.
“Create awareness”
Mr. Ramasamy urged the officials to take steps to create an awareness among the masses of the hazards of emission of excess smoke from vehicles.
Later, at an official meeting Mr. Ramasamy reviewed the various on-going programmes and also the action taken on certain audit-objections notified in the past.
The Member of the Committee, T. A. Chinnasamy; the Joint Secretary of the Legislature, K. Rajendran; the Collector S. J. Chiru were among those who participated in the meeting.
