Nod for chemical hub site
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: The West Bengal Cabinet approved on Tuesday the selection of Nayachar Island near Haldia in Purbo Medinipur district as the site for the proposed chemical hub.
It was earlier to have been set up in Nandigram but was decided against in the face of months of hostilities and intermittent clashes between those opposed to the project, backed by the Trinamool Congress, and supporters of the Left parties.
At a meeting the Cabinet ratified the decision on the site selection that had been taken by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee following consultations within the ruling Left Front and talks with Opposition parties.
