Bring back: DYFI members staging a protest in Tuticorin .

Tuticorin: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) cadres staged a demonstration here on Monday, to protest the recent shifting of electricity bill counter for Tuticorin Urban (West) consumers to a new location.

P. Puviraj, district secretary, DYFI, said that shifting of the counter from Chidamabra Nagar to Caldwell Colony was an “incorrect” decision taken by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board since the customers covered under Urban (West) are located at Kurinji Nagar, Viswapuram, Jebanagar, Yogeeswarar Colony, and Netaji Nagar, which were far away from Caldwell Colony.

The agitators demanded that the counter should be shifted to a location adjacent to the New Bus stand on Tuticorin-Ettayapuram road.

K. Sankaran, Town president, M S Muthu, Town secretary, and K Arumugam, Town treasurer, all of DYFI, spoke.
