HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old man died after falling from a lorry carrying Ganesh idol in front of the Lepakshi showroom on Gunfoundry road during the Ganesh idol procession on Tuesday. An advocate shifted the youth, who sustained serious head injuries, to the Government Hospital at King Kothi where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Ten persons sustained injuries as three Ganesh idols being taken to immersion points on trucks fell down at different places in the city on Tuesday. The Ganesh idol in Nataraja form from Petlaburz fell after its base got jolted as the driver of the truck suddenly slammed the brakes near Baragalli in the old city. Five devotees, including three youngsters, standing on the trolley, were injured in the incident. They were shifted to a nearby hospital. Doctors said their condition was out of danger. Two more such incidents were reported in East Zone. A huge idol of lord Vinayaka fell on the road from the truck after its upper part hit against tree branches on Shivam road. In another incident, an idol fell off the truck after its driver suddenly applied brakes leaving five persons injured.
