CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday welcomed Congress president Sonia Gandhi giving higher responsibilities to youngsters. In a letter to Ms. Gandhi, a copy of which was released to the press, he said: “The changes effected in the Congress party and entrustment of higher responsibilities with the younger generation is really a welcome development. You have chosen the appropriate talents for the party’s posts. I am quite sure that the incumbents chosen will prove their mettle in enhancing the image of the party. I congratulate you on the timely decisions for the growth of the party.” he said. Letter to RahulIn a separate letter to the newly appointed AICC general secretary, Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Karunanidhi congratulated him and said that the appointment showed that the party was ready to entrust youth with responsibilities. “You are from a family which is very much part of our freedom struggle and involved in shaping the destiny of India. This historic background will stand you in good stead. I wish that you should attain still higher position to work more effectively for the cause of the country.”
