NAMAKKAL: The Namakkal District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed the Namakkal Municipality to pay a compensation of Rs. 25,000 to A. Alavutheen for alleged deficiency in service. Alavutheen had paid Rs. 1,900 and booked the Municipality’s Pavalar Muthusamy Nagar Mandram for two days August 14 and 15 in 2005 for his daughter’s marriage.
He paid Rs. 1,900 as rent to the Municipality.
But on August 14, Mr. Alavutheen found that the hall was being repaired and it could not be used for the marriage.
As a result, he was forced to conduct the marriage in his house and incur additional expenses. Mr. Alavutheen lodged a complaint to consumer redressal forum which directed the municipality to pay him compensation.
