AIADMK demands Rangasamy’s resignation

Special Correspondent

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister N. Rangasamy over alleged irregularities in the construction of buildings for the Government Medical College.

A resolution adopted at a meeting of the party’s office-bearers and functionaries here said the Chief Minister should not continue in office in the wake of All India Congress Committee general secretary V. Narayanasamy calling for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the issue.

The AIADMK had raised the issue in the Assembly several times, the resolution recalled.

Through another resolution, the party asked the Government to take steps to ensure allocation of 50 per cent of medical seats for local candidates in Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research.
