MALAPPURAM: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will take out a march to the office of Air India on Thursday in protest against the problems faced by Gulf passengers at the hands of the national carrier. District leaders of the DYFI said that AI had been putting Gulf Malayalis who travel via Calicut International Airport at Karipur to innumerable difficulties by rescheduling and cancelling flights without prior notice. The excuses put forth by the airline such as technical snags and inclement weather were not tenable, they said. Many Gulf Malayalis have lost their jobs solely owing to irresponsible behaviour of AI, they said. They added that the State’s Ministers at the Centre were not helping the Gulf Malayalis. A statement by the DYFI said that there were allegations of ticket frauds in Air India. V. Sasikumar, MLA, will inaugurate the protest march. Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA, will address the protesters.
