Belgaum: Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer M.E. Shivalingamurthy has advised voters to present photo identity cards to the polling officials at their respective polling booths to exercise their franchise. In case a voter has not obtained his photo identity card issued by the Election Commission, the voter can produce other documents issued in his name or in the name of the head of the family. The documents which could be used for identification purpose other than the photo identity cards are: ration card, driving licence, passport, identity card issued by Union and State Governments, public sector units or private organisations, passbook issued by bank/post office, pahani patra/record of rights, electricity/telephone bills, property tax receipt, weapon licence, medical certificate/widow/old age pension document, identity cards issued by colleges in respect of students, buss/rail pass, conductor licence, freedom fighter’s identity cards, ex-servicemen canteen card/CSD canteen card, school marks card/transfer certificate/college degree certificate and insurance paid receipts.
