Situation still grim in West Bengal districts Six killed in heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh Patna: Thirteen persons were killed in house collapses in various parts of Bihar, as torrential rain, caused by a depression in the Bay of Bengal, continued to lash the State. In Samastipur district, nine persons, including three children, lost their lives when their houses collapsed. Two persons died in Darbhanga district. A child was killed under the debris of a house in Masaurhi in Patna district, while an old woman died in Muzaffarpur district. In another incident in Patna, five people suffered injuries. Rain had been lashing Bihar for three days now. All schools and colleges have been closed and examinations deferred till further orders. . Rail traffic was suspended on several sections. In Patna, trains were running behind schedule and many cancelled. Rainfall was heavy in places such as Gaya, Patna and Bhagalpur. Staff Reporter writes from Kolkata: The death toll in rain-related incidents in south Bengal rose to 13 on Wednesday, even as the situation remained grim in several districts. Many areas in Kolkata continued to remain waterlogged. PTI adds from Lucknow: Six persons were killed and several others injured as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed several parts of Uttar Pradesh, official sources said.
