NELLORE: Drinking water needs of Municipal Corporation of Nellore (MCN) will soon be mitigated, as works pertaining to the summer storage tank will commence from the next month.
According to Nellore MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy, the MCN had already called for tenders for taking up Rs. 102 crore worth summer storage tank works and the last date for filing tenders was ended on September 20.
Regular supply
“Finalisation of tenders will soon be completed and after that works will begin with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (Hudco) coming forward to assist the MCN.”
The MLA said that the corporation could supply water regularly to all areas once the construction of summer storage tank was completed. “The MCN can supply water twice a day to all those areas that come under the corporation limits and once a day to areas in the suburbs. And water could also be supplied to Magunta Layout, Kondayapalem, Haranathapuram, Bhaktavatsalanagar, NGO Colony and other areas.” Meanwhile, the MLA alleged that Roads and Buildings (R&B) officials especially engineers had been indifferent to complete works related to two Rail Over Bridges (ROB).
