DMK upbeat over youth wing meet

Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam youth wing conference to be held here on December 16 would leave its imprint in the annals of Dravidian history, the party’s district in-charge and Tenkasi MLA, V. Karuppasamy Pandian has said.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he, while thanking the party high command for giving the district an opportunity to host the conference, said the meeting would once again prove that the people of southern districts were the staunch supporters of the DMK, which was taking steps to ensure massive investments in the southern part of the State such as Sethusamudhram Ship Channel Project, Information Technology park at Gangaikondan, Tata’s titanium dioxide plant at Sattankulam, industrial park at Nanguneri etc.

Secretary of the youth wing and Minister for Local Administration, M.K. Stalin, who would be arriving here on October 2, would finalise the venue of the conference after inspecting three sites – the Tirunelveli Medical College ground, a vast stretch east of Sarada College and another site near K.T.C. Nagar where the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam organised its silver jubilee celebrations.

Mr. Stalin would also address the office-bearers’ meeting to be held on the same day at Maharaja Nagar on the same day.

Before leaving for Chennai, he would inaugurate the Thatchanallur Combined Drinking Water Scheme executed at the cost of Rs. 4.50 crore.

Mr. Pandian said the Minister for Public Health, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, would lay foundation stone for two 30-bed hospitals, each costing about Rs.80 lakh, at Ilaththur and Vadakarai on October 5 and inaugurate the Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment installed at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital on October 7.
