PUDUKOTTAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will inaugurate the fifth phase of ‘Free Two Acre land’ scheme at Pudukottai on Friday.
The town is sprucing up for the Chief Minister’s visit and special arches are being set up. The District Stadium grounds where the function is to be held is being decorated with special pandals.
Free house-site pattas
The Chief Minister will also distribute free house-site pattas to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, the State Agricultural Secretary, Surjit K. Choudry, said that a total of 24,932 landless farmers will get 32,065.61-acre land during the fifth phase. A maximum of 3,093 acres will be distributed to 1,950 beneficiaries in Madurai district, while Nagapattinam district with 14 beneficiaries accounts for the minimum extent of 8.02 acres.
He said that the Chief Minister would hand over 918.28 acres to 1,228 beneficiaries of Pudukottai district.
