3.57 lakh farmers to benefit from insurance
These farmers suffered during 2005 season
ANANTAPUR: The crop insurance claims settlement amount of Rs. 376 crore was released to different banks operating in the district for its disbursement to the farmers.
The amount would be credited to the accounts of the farmers concerned by the month-end and they can withdraw it from the first week of October.
District Collector N. Sridhar stated that the amount was released to different banks in the district by the National Agriculture Insurance Corporation and the State Government.
Meeting conducted
A meeting was already conducted with the controlling authorities of all banks in the district asking them not to create any hurdles in the disbursement of the amount to the beneficiary farmers.
Released to banks
Collector N. Sridhar stated that Rs. 125.99 crore was released to the branches of Andhra Pragati Grameena Bank, Rs. 71.72 cr. to the branches of State Bank of India, Rs. 34.44 cr. to the branches of Andhra Bank.
He added that Rs. 49.99 cr. to Syndicate Bank, Rs. 55.89 cr. to District Cooperative Central Bank, Rs. 19.3 cr. to Canara Bank, Rs. 6.81 cr. to Corporation Bank and the remaining amount will be distributed to other banks operating in Anantapur district.
In all, 3.57 lakh farmers who had availed crop loans and suffered groundnut crop loss during the 2005 kharif season would be benefited from the crop insurance.
