Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has urged Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala to prevail upon the government not to sponsor the bandh called by the Democratic Progressive Alliance for October 1.

In separate letters, he said the bandh call violated the orders of the Kerala High Court and the Supreme Court. He also called for the deployment of Central forces in the State. Dr. Swamy met Mr. Baranala and submitted a memorandum in this regard. Dr. Swamy urged Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to drop the plan for the bandh.
