Amit Bhushan triumphs

BANGALORE: Amit Bhushan capped a fine week to emerge the junior State billiards champion. Amit, a highly-talented lad brushed aside the challenge from Balaji Reddy at 569-509 to lift the junior crown after a three-hour semifinal league encounter, that fetched him his second win.

Amit had lost to Mohd.

Ali on Monday but then roared back to outclass Mundir Sherazi on Tuesday. Balaji Reddy with two wins finished runner-up yet again while Sherazi downed Mohd. Ali to finish third.

Former champion B. Bhaskar looked in ominous foirm and helped himself to a break of 138 to vanquish Sajjan Boppanna in a group A match of the senior billiards, best of five-150 format.

The results: Senior billiards league (best of 5 - 150 points): Sajan Bopanna bt A. Satish Kumar 152-91, 151-143, 125-152, 125-150, 150-107; Balaji Reddy bt Francis Joe 150-90, 110-150, 150-92, 129-151, 152-95.
