Lalhlimpuia nets winner

NEW DELHI: Lalhlimpuia clinched the match-winner in the 18th minute as National Cadet Corps, Aizawl, defeated Army Boys Company, 58 GTC, Shillong, 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Subroto Cup junior football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Similarly, in the league, Saifuddin scored the match-winner in helping BKSP, Dhaka, to a 1-0 victory over Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima. The Bangladesh team struck the crucial goal in the 57th minute in a keen contest.

In another match, Hmar Venj High School, Mizoram, was well served by Malsawmtluna (3), Zonmingthanga (3), Vanshungkima (2), R. Lalgukzuala (2) in its 12-0 triumph over SJBP International School, Ahmedabad. Lalsena and Vanlalhruia completed the tally for the Mizo team.

Sagarbhanga High School, Durgapur, recorded a 4-0 triumph over Sainik School, Imphal. Maiswm Zuala, Biswadip Das, Dipendu and Souvik Chakraborty scored the goals.
