CHIANG MAI (Thailand): Sarabjit Singh finished 18th in the men’s over-105kg category of the World weightlifting championships with a total of 371kg here on Wednesday. In the women’s Over-75kg division, Geeta Rani (232kg) ended up 20th while in the 75kg class, another Indian lifter, Sumati Devi (212kg) finished 17th. However, China’s Mu Shuangshuang broke the world record for the total lifted in the over-75kg category. The 23-year-old lifted 139kg to win gold in the snatch, and hoisted 180kg in the clean and jerk to set a new world record of 319kg in total. The results: Men: Over-105kg: 1. Viktors Scerbatihs (Lat) 202, 240, 442kg; 2. Evgeny Chigishev (Rus) 201, 240, 441kg; 3. Jaber Saeed Salem (Qat) 195, 240, 435kg; 18. Sarabjit Singh (Ind) 165, 206, 371kg. Women: 1. Cao Lei (Chn) 128, 158, 286kg; 2. Natalia Zaboltnaya (Rus) 131, 150, 281kg; 3. Nadezda Evstykhina (Rus) 128, 150, 278kg; 17. Sumati Devi (Ind) 92, 120, 212kg. Over-75kg: 1. Jang Mi-Ran (Kor) 138, 181, 319kg; 2. Mu Shuangshuang (Chn) 139, 180, 319; 3. Olha Korobka (Ukr) 126, 155, 281kg; 20. Geeta Rani (Ind) 100, 132, 232kg.
