A heady record of jasmine

BANGALORE: Jasmines are among the most common flowers in Indian gardens, which also yield essential oil. It is estimated that at least 12,500 kg of cut flowers of different kinds of jasmine are sold daily in India.

In Karnataka, jasmine occupies the second position among flowers in terms of area under cultivation and production.

Jasmines are used for preparing garlands, especially in South India, and a large quantity is used to extract essential oils.
