POLLACHI: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko continued his tirade against the Central and State Governments over the proposed move to transfer 79-km-long Palakkad-Pollachi-Kinathukadavu line to Palakkad railway division in the neighbouring Kerala.
Campaigning for the second day on Wednesday Mr. Vaiko spoke in 15 villages, including Samthur, Jameen Uthukuli and Makkinampatty. He said the decision was not acceptable and his party would continue to protest against it.
He said Pollachi MP C. Krishnan had not been invited for the meeting in which the decision was taken.
Mr. Vaiko said that Pollachi junction which had almost 35 acres of land had the potential to become one of the major railway junctions in this region.
He apprehended that if this region was transferred to the Palakkad division, authorities there would not ensure proper maintenance of even the platforms, leave alone taking up of development works.
