Seeking safety: Delhi University students holding a protest rally on Wednesday demanding safety measures for girl students.
NEW DELHI: Students of Delhi University colleges gathered at India Gate here on Wednesday to appeal to the entire country to support their struggle to secure justice for the girl students who were molested allegedly by those appearing for written examinations for recruitment of policemen and lower division clerks on the campus on September 16.
Shouting slogans and carrying placards, the students marched from India Gate to Jantar Mantar and urged people to express solidarity with their movement to ensure a safe city for women. Last week the students had staged a demonstration outside the V-C’s Office and the PHQ to protest against the incidents. Though the authorities agreed to some of their demands last Friday, their main demand that the police recruitment examination be nullified is yet to be met.
